Using Communications to Impact Student Success and Retention

As a consultant for more than 500 colleges and universities, I have observed that most institutions have a well-orchestrated communications plan for prospective students, but few have a similar practice for current students. In fact, most current student communications are ad hoc, nestled deep inside departmental silos, and do little to impact student behavior. This session will focus on the organization and nature of communications needed to improve student engagement, the timely use of support resources, and the adoption of learning habits to impact student success and retention—preventing student problems before an intervention is needed.
