Jim Black was first a high school teacher, followed by his first job in higher education at Newberry College. His career in higher education spans 20 years with leadership roles as Associate Dean at Mars Hill College (NC), Dean at Winthrop University (SC), and Associate Provost at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (NC). For the last five years, Dr. Black has served as the President and CEO of SEM Works, a leader in higher education enrollment management consulting. His passion is helping institutions achieve optimal enrollment results while ensuring students have opportunities to pursue their educational goals.
Neil Clark Dean of College Counseling - The Walker School
Neil Clark began his career in higher education in the Admissions Offices of MacMurray College (IL) and then Bethany College (WV). Following those positions, Clark then served Newberry College (SC) for six years as Dean of Admissions before becoming Vice President of Enrollment and Financial Aid at Valparaiso University (IN). In a return to his counseling roots, in 1993 Neil accepted a position “on the other side of the desk” and now serves as Dean of College Counseling at The Walker School in Marietta, Georgia, where he uses his extensive knowledge of the nation’s colleges and universities as well as good humor to guide high school students through the college selection process.
