Workshop 1
SEM:  A Framework for Integrating Your Institution's Enrollment Efforts
In today's economic environment, only the smart will thrive. Intelligent organizations are relentlessly scanning the internal and external environment for information and continuously improving based on what they learn. They are strategic more than tactical; guided by data more than intuition; and proactive rather than reactive. Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) provides a lens through which any institution can become a high-performing organization even in the midst of adverse conditions. This presentation will focus on applications of SEM that leverage communication, collaboration, and integration to achieve institutional objectives in tumultuous times. Learn what your college or university must do to evolve.

Presented by Dr. Jim Black, President and CEO of SEM Works, an enrollment management and marketing consulting firm, as well as the author and editor of four books: Navigating Change in the New Millennium: Strategies for Enrollment Leaders, The Strategic Enrollment Management Revolution, Gen Xers Return to College: Enrollment Strategies for a Maturing Population, and Essentials of Enrollment Management: Cases in the Field. He is the 2005 recipient of AACRAO Distinguished Service Award.

Sunday, July 11—6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
(Additional Fee: $50)

Workshop 2

Delivering on Your Institution's Promise
To effectively retain students and enhance institutional loyalty, begin by understanding the promises students believe are inherent in your college or university experience. Put simply, there must be congruence between what an institution claims to be and what its students actually experience when they interact with any individual or unit affiliated with the campus. When the expectations generated from promotional activities or other sources are incongruent with student reality, the image of the institution is tarnished and trust is eroded. Topics include defining the promise, living the promise, operationalizing the promise, delivering on the promise consistently, and building institutional loyalty.

Presented by Dr. Jim Black.

Monday, July 12—9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.
(Additional Fee: $50)

Workshop 3
High School Counselors: Your Partners in Recruitment
Practical suggestions on how to use high school counselors in your recruitment program will be presented. The discussion will include a range of activities to enhance your institution's visibility in your top feeder schools. You will leave with a list of new ides and recruitment activities.

Presented by Neil K. Clark, Dean of College Counseling and Guidance at the Walker School in Marietta, Georgia, and 2007 recipient of the College Board's Counselor of the Year award.  He is also a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Educational Planner with over 30 years of experience.

Monday, July 12—9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
(Additional Fee: $50)
